Arena
The Arena is where players of a server duel each other for rating. Open it from More → Arena on the home screen or the Arena tab of the web dashboard. You can enter from level 5. A menu switches between the views Opponents, Other servers, History, Ranking and Season and leagues.
Finding an Opponent
The arena lists up to 20 opponents from your own server: characters of level 5 or higher within 10 levels of you and within 200 rating points, the closest rating first. Characters of other servers only appear in the Other servers view, see Duels Across Servers below.
The Duel
- Your opponent is away: you fight against their character as it is, with gear and active pet. Nobody has to accept.
- Automatic: the duel resolves on its own and shows its log.
- Speed strikes first: each side rolls its speed plus 1 to 20 once, and the higher result attacks first in every round.
- Round limit: after 50 rounds without a winner, the side with more HP left wins; a tie goes to the defender.
Rating
Everyone starts at 1000. A win raises your rating and a loss lowers it (Elo with a factor of 32): beating a higher rated opponent gains more, losing to a lower rated one costs more. A rating never drops below 0.
After a challenge you wait 10 minutes before the next one. Being challenged starts no wait.
Rewards
Your first win of each UTC day pays a daily reward worth the gold of five hunt wins at your level.
Leaderboard
The Ranking view of the arena screen shows the best 10 duelists of your server by rating, then wins, with their wins and losses. The Arena tab of the web dashboard lists the best 50 with their win rate.
Seasons and Leagues
Every calendar month is an arena season. Your rating places you in a league from Bronze to Diamond, the month's ranked duelists earn gold for their league, Platinum and Diamond earn a title, and a new month moves every rating halfway back to 1000. Leagues, rewards and the soft reset are explained on Seasons & Titles.
Duels Across Servers
If your server has switched on the cross-server arena, the Other servers view lists up to 5 characters from other servers that switched it on too: level 5 or higher, within 10 levels of you. The list stays the same for an hour. You see their name and class only, never their server.
- The duel: you fight the character as it is right now, with gear and active pet, like a duel at home.
- Only your rating moves: a win gains half the usual rating, a loss costs the full amount. The other player's rating, history and records do not change, and they are not told.
- Limits: one duel per character of another server each UTC day. The 10 minute wait after a challenge and the daily first win reward work as at home.
- Season: these duels count toward the 3 duels you need to be ranked in an arena season.
Your own characters on other servers never appear, and neither does a character whose player left their server or whose server switched the arena or the cross-server arena off.
