Levlix XP & Leveling Guide

The Levlix XP Module provides a complete leveling system that rewards members for being active on your server. Users earn XP from text and voice activity, level up automatically, and can be rewarded with custom roles at specific level thresholds.

How XP is Earned

Text XP

Members earn XP for sending messages in text channels. The exact amount is configurable by the server admin.

Voice XP

Members earn XP for spending time in voice channels. The following rules apply:

Users in the AFK channel do not earn voice XP.
Users who are server-deafened do not earn voice XP.
Users must be actively connected and not paused to qualify.

Channels, Categories and Roles Without XP

Admins can turn off activity XP in chosen places and for chosen members:

Channels: messages, reactions and voice time in these channels earn no XP.
Categories: no channel in these categories earns XP.
Roles: members holding one of these roles earn no activity XP anywhere.

Threads follow their parent: a thread earns no XP when the thread itself, its parent channel or the parent's category is excluded. Voice XP is checked every minute, so a member who moves into an excluded voice channel stops earning on the next check. Invites have no channel, so only the role list applies to them.

Set the lists in the dashboard under Economy → Rewards, next to the XP sources, or in the Settings tab of the XP administration card in Discord. Up to 25 channels and categories together and 25 roles can be excluded.

Note

The exclusions only cover XP earned through activity. XP an admin grants by hand, birthday XP, vote rewards and Connections rewards are paid as before.

XP Boosts

Three kinds of boosts multiply the XP members earn through activity:

Server boost: everyone earns more XP for a set time, for example during an event. Start one in the Boosts tab of the XP administration card.
Role boost: members holding one of the chosen roles always earn more XP, for example supporters, boosters or VIPs. Pick the roles and a multiplier from 1.5x to 5x in the dashboard under Economy → Rewards (card XP Boost Roles) or in the Boosts tab of the XP administration card. Up to 25 roles can have a boost.
Personal boost: a member buys a boost for themselves in the shop.

Note

Boosts never add up. When several apply to a member, only the largest one counts: a member with a 2x role during a 3x server boost earns 3x. Like the exclusions, boosts only cover XP earned through activity.

User Commands

Rank Card

/rank user: <optional @member>

View your XP level, total XP, server rank, and a visual progress bar. You can optionally view another member's rank by mentioning them.

XP Leaderboard

/leaderboard

Opens the server leaderboards on the XP page: members ranked by total XP, ten per page. A menu on the same message switches to the server's other leaderboards, such as RPG or reputation.

Level Roles

Admins can configure automatic role rewards that are assigned when a user reaches a specific level. For example:

When a user levels up and reaches a configured threshold, the role is assigned automatically. Role configuration is managed in the dashboard under Economy → Rewards.

Highest role only: When a member levels up, only the highest earned reward role is kept, so veterans no longer carry a stack of every intermediate role they passed through. This always applies; there is no setting to keep lower reward roles.

Level-Up Announcements

When a member levels up, Levlix can post a public celebration message. From the dashboard you can:

Choose the announcement channel, or keep Same channel where user leveled up to post where the member earned the level.
Use a custom message template with placeholders for the member, the new level, and their role reward.
Choose which level-ups trigger a message: Every level-up, Role reward only or Off.

Resetting XP

Admins can set members back to zero XP and level 0. In Discord this is the Members tab of the XP administration card; in the dashboard it is the Reset XP card at the bottom of Economy → Rewards.

Reset One Member

Choose the member and confirm the reset.

Reset All Members

Resets the XP of every member on the server at once. To confirm, type the server name.

Both confirmations offer Also remove level roles, which is off by default. When it is on, Levlix takes the configured level roles off the members that were reset. On a large server this runs in the background for a while, and members the bot cannot see right now are skipped. Every reset is recorded in the server's audit log.

Warning

A reset cannot be undone. The XP history behind the activity charts stays, but totals and levels start again from zero.

Admin Dashboard

Open /setup, choose Engagement and then XP & Levels. The page holds the XP settings, and XP boosts opens the XP administration card with the tabs Overview, Settings, Boosts, Level roles and Members, where you can:

View and configure level role thresholds
Adjust XP gain settings
Start XP boosts and look up members
Manage the leveling system for your server

Progression

Higher levels require progressively more XP to reach. The XP curve is configurable by the server admin through the dashboard.
